Nestled in fields and vineyards in the mountainside panorama of South Tyrol.
South Tyrol, a land of fruit and wine, with breathtaking mountains and a mild mediterranean climate is an ideal holiday place in northern Italy. Our 3star house is situated in Tscherms, a small peaceful village between Lana and Marling. Nestled between apple trees and rolling grapevines on a sunny hillside, we are only five minutes from Merano.
We are located in the heart of the Merano region with excellent bus and train connections throughout South Tyrol and beyond. This means you can easily explore South Tyrol and all its wonderful, multi-faceted corners by cable car, bus, train, bike and, of course, on foot.
Castle Lebenberg
The castle was built in the 13th century by the lords of Marling and is certainly one of the most beautiful castles still inhabited in the entire Burggrafenamt. Starting from our 3-star hotel, the Waalweg trail above Tscherms takes you directly to the picturesque Castel Lebenberg.
With its impressive winding courtyards, a well-preserved special castle chapel, a rococo-style hall of mirrors and a knights' hall with an interesting collection of weapons, this is a successful journey back in time. The most impressive viewpoint is certainly the French ornamental garden with a breathtaking view of the entire Adige Valley.
Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle
The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are an absolute must for all nature and culture lovers. This botanical garden with its landscaped gardens `from` all over the world is located just 5 kilometres `from` the idyllic little town of Cermes.
From spring to autumn, this unique park offers a variety of flowers with their enchanting scents, Mediterranean and Alpine plants and shrubs set in beautifully landscaped gardens. The world-famous Trauttmansdorff Castle towers in the centre invites visitors to travel back in time to the era of the legendary Empress Sissi. Covering 12 hectares, this garden is one of the most beautiful in Italy.
Labyrinth garden - Kränzelhof
Another centre of attraction is the Ansitz Kränzel with its famous labyrinth garden. This special park is just a 5-minute walk `from` our centrally located hotel. A relaxation centre in the great outdoors consisting of a labyrinth of vines, ponds, extensive terraces and an amphitheatre offers lots of interesting things for the whole family.
Ansitz Kränzel is also a renowned wine producer. In the historic wine cellar, the winemaker Count von Pfeil offers all wine lovers numerous tastings with a guided tour of the cellar. The Miil restaurant in the old mill spoils all visitors with special delicacies `from` the gourmet kitchen.
The Schnatterpeck altar
In the neighbouring village of Lana there is another sight that can also be wonderfully combined with a beautiful hiking trail, the Schnatterpeckaltar.
From Valtnaungut, you can take a leisurely stroll to the pretty village of Lana and `from` there follow the Brandiswaalweg trail through orchards, vineyards and chestnut trees to the parish church of Maria Himmelfahrt in Niederlana. A fascinating sight awaits visitors in the Gothic church. The huge winged altar by the famous altar builder Hans Schnatterpeck with its beautiful carvings is the landmark of the 16th century late Gothic period in South Tyrol.
